About This Trail

Generated from trail data
Starts at the Puʻu o Kila Lookout at the end of Kōkeʻe Road and runs 3.8 miles along the Kalalau Valley rim before dropping into high-elevation native forest toward Kawaikoi Stream, linking with the Alakaʻi Swamp Trail en route. The tread is frequently wet — deep mud and slick roots are routine — and fog and rain can close in quickly at 4,000 feet in one of the wettest places in Hawaiʻi. Many hikers turn around at the Alakaʻi Swamp junction.
