Descends 3.1 miles from Kōkeʻe Road through ʻōhiʻa and koa forest still recovering from hurricanes ʻIwa and ʻIniki, ending at a rim overlook DLNR describes as an awesome view into Nuʻalolo and Awaʻawapuhi valleys on the Nāpali Coast. More than 50 native rainforest and dryland plant species line the route, with ʻelepaio and ʻapapane in the canopy. The 1,180-foot climb comes on the way back out.
