About This Trail

There is a loop hike that takes you across parallel ridges and gives you a panoramic view of the wild, mountainous terrain nearby and occasionally looks out over the southern end of Silicon Valley. The Grant County Park attractions include wildflowers in the spring, a bunch of tarantulas in the fall and coyotes all year, while the elite few finish one of the Bay Area's most strenuous hikes. The trails are muddy in winter, but you can hike many miles before the sun goes down. It's best when the hills are green and the wildflowers are out. It is too hot in the summer and not worth the risk in autumn if you can't carry enough water. This route leads to the highest point in the park, Antler Point, and then goes up the steepest trail in the park, the Bay Area Ridge Trail.
