About This Trail
The Bear Valley Mountain Lookout is located in the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness. The old Deadwood Mine, the Deadwood Outfitter's Base Camp, and Jensen Cabin are on the way. The lookout is not staffed and appears to be a radio repeater site. Take photos at the national forest, the work center, and a log cabin on the way back. The route leads to the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness and gives you the chance to explore several spur roads that have been dead-ended. The entire trip through the beautiful Bear Valley is very scenic with clear creek and mountains on both sides of the road.
