About This Trail
"Don't give up!" The spot of the Wells Fargo stage robbery is known to the public. The trail is a trip in time. The upper portion of the paved trail is on top of the old "River Road", which was built in the 19th century to connect the city of Shasta City with the Central Pacific Railroad. Look for stone walls from the original construction of that route. The lower portion of the trail is located on the top of a railroad grade, which was used to bring iron from the Iron Mountain mines to the Bay area. This gentle grade will lead users to the Sacramento River Trail. The state historic park and museum is a great place for a picnic.
