The shortest route to the peaks is on the Lassen National Forest. It is an easy to follow trail to the higher peaks. The trail begins in a forest and goes up through trees and the brush zone. It is easy to get around these trees. The trail goes out of the crater. The trail goes through the wilderness through the lake portion.
