There is a trail between the Nebo loop Road and the Rock Springs trail that leads to Lizard Lake. It's true that Lizard Lake is a mud-hole during the summer and fall. There is not much water in the early spring. It's an easy little hike through a meadow and aspens before connecting to the Rock Springs trail. Go east at the Rock Springs trail and you will reach the lake. If you're looking for a nice, easy trail that's easy to get to, this is a good one to try.
