Little Bald Mountain Trail

This is the hike to Little Bald Mountain Lookout (not Duncan Peak) which can also be reached along this trail. Park in the well marked parking area near Robinson Flat Campground, not in the campground. To start you will head west on a dirt road up a hill for a short distance. (If you’re facing the meadow, that would be to your right.) At mile .15 (less than a quarter of a mile), the road goes West. You want to veer on the trail that goes slightly left (SE). Follow it for about 1 mile. Trail dead ends into a trail that goes both left and right. To take in the lookout… Turn to the R (SW) on the trail for about 3/10ths of a mile where it intersects with a dirt road. Follow the road to your left, up the hill to the Lookout. After a beautiful scenic visit, back track the 1/2 mile to the point where you came up from the parking lot, then continue straight ahead. You are heading E now for 9/10ths of a mile (total of 2.9) where a trail goes off to your right (S) deep into the canyon. Stay on the main trail which continues east along a wide ridge till you get to a large switchback with lots of rocks and trees. Enjoy the vistas. Follow the switchback downhill. You will cross Robinson Valley Creek (in the valley) at about 3.9 miles. Shortly the Western States trail crosses your trail. Go left/west on the WST, thru the campground and back to the parking lot.
