About This Trail

The parking area and fishing pier are connected by a short trail. A 1-mile mowed grass trail is ideal for hiking and nature observation. The preserve has a popular fishing hole and gravel pit. The fishing can be used for bluegill, northern pike, bass, perch and white crappie. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has a lake. The lake is close to woods and open fields. A pond, wetlands and a stream are included in the preserve. Bird watchers can find a variety of birds, including belted kingfishers, eastern kingbirds, yellow warbirds, northern orioles and several types of herons.
