Greenbelt Forest Preserve Trail

This island of green is located in Lake County's most urban area. The amenities are clean, safe and well-designed, and there is a surprising array of birds, wildflowers and landscapes here. There are 5 miles of trails for hiking, 4 miles of trails for bicycling and cross-country skiing, and a 1-mile self-guided nature trail in the preserve. This is a landscape of oak groves, wetlands and prairie. The effect of 150 years of settlement has been felt in the area. Were nursing it back to health.
