King's Creek Falls to Devil's Kitchen

This hike is strenuous, especially on the continuous incline of the return trip, but it is absolutely gorgeous. This is a great tour of some of the best habitats and natural phenomena that Lassen has to offer. The hike starts off with several smaller and one massive waterfall in Kings Creek. Some of the best views are also early in the trip. The other fantastic view you get will be right before the switchbacks descending into the Warner Valley. The path to the valley are mostly wooded with large fields of low lying manzanita plants. Once in the Warner Valley Campground, you can take the opportunity to refill water at spigots by camp sites. You can also jump into the ice cold river running just south of the campsite. Great to cool off in the mid-summer heat. Then proceed to check out the bubbling thermal springs of Devil's Kitchen. There is a small 2-mile additional leg you may choose to take to see the "Boiling Lake" by the Warner Valley Campground. Then refill water once more before the return trip home.
