About This Trail
Informational signs along the trail. The site is believed to have been occupied by the Illinois Indian village from 1640 to 1670. Archeologists believe that as many as 8,000 people lived in the village when Father Jacques Marquette and Louis Jolliet came through the area in 1673. Visitors to the site can learn more about the inhabitants of the village by walking a short trail.
