About This Trail
The east entrance starts on a gravel trail bed and goes to the ruins of an old engine house. In the 1890s, the machine house was used to repair train engines and cards as well as serve the operations of the state park. According to the book "America's Granite Car," in 1901 there were 16 granite cars that could take Missouri red granite from one place to another. The west entrance to the trail offers a dirt road that leads the visitor to a back side of the old quarry.
