Hinkle Branch Trail to Holston Mountain Low Gap

There is an entry point for the Holston Mountain Trail System. It is possible to hike the Low Gap Trail more than 3 miles up to the Low Gap Campground. At the beginning of a forest service road, the trail head is gated. There is a Cherokee Forest welcome sign with trail system instructions and standard and cautionary warnings. It is within a half mile of the Taylor Ridge Trail that you will get to the gate with yellow blazes. On the next intersection signs will be on the left, but on the road leading into the forest. It will be a right turn after 3 miles. Take this to the campsite for a bit. Panhandle Road leads to Holston High Point. Going in the right direction leads to the Fire Tower.
