About This Trail
You can see the amazing scenery on the east end of the trail at the historic Animas Forks Ghost Town. It was a memorable drive with many well-preserved mine buildings. The San Juan Mountains Center is closed in the winter. The road is in good shape. The east side of California Pass is usually covered in snow by late June. The upper portion of the trail is recommended to have a low range.
