About This Trail

A moderate trail leads 888-666-1846 888-666-1846 around the two lakes, through cinder fields and over the Cinder Cone. A great overnight backpacking trip is made possible by this trip. It is no difficult hike, as it is located around both Butte and Nagitt Lakes. It's well marked, easy to follow and is very quiet. You must circle around the lakes to get to the cinder fields. You should follow the established trail to make sure you don't have a negative impact on the cinder fields. Take your time and go up the back of the Cinder Cone. This is by far the most tiring chunk of the journey. It takes elevation gain to hike up Cinder Cone which is less than a mile high. It's necessary to get to the top of Cinder Cone, then make the long, rocky, and tiring hike back to the Camptent in order to explore all that is left in the area.
