About

Haena State Park is situated on the north shore of Kauai, at the conclusion of Kuhio Highway. The name "Haena" translates to "extending water" in Hawaiian, which reflects its coastal environment. The park is known for its views of the Nāpali Coast and the restored taro fields that showcase traditional Hawaiian agricultural practices. Keʻe Beach offers a sandy shoreline, and the park serves as the starting point for the Kalalau Trail, which leads into the rugged Nāpali Coast. Visitors to Haena State Park can partake in various activities such as swimming, sunbathing, and hiking along the Kalalau Trail, which provides scenic coastal views and access to secluded beaches. Parking is limited, so arriving early is recommended to secure a spot. Given the variable weather, it's advisable to prepare for both sun and rain. The park's remote location means amenities are minimal; visitors should bring adequate water and supplies for their day. Before your visit, please confirm hours, fees, and any closures with the official state agency.
