About
Overview
Willow Campground is one of four small, rustic campgrounds in the Libby Creek Recreation Area in southeastern Wyoming.
The campground lies in a stand of lodgepole pines in the mountains of Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests, off the Snowy Range Scenic Byway. Visitors enjoy fishing and hiking.
Natural Features:
The Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests and Thunder Basin National Grassland encompass nearly 3 million acres from central and northeastern Wyoming to north-central Colorado.
Lodgepole pine, aspen, fir, spruce and shrubs dominate the landscape of the national forests. The Grassland boasts numerous species of grasses and wildflowers that add color to the landscape during warmer months.
Black bear, bobcat, coyote, elk, mule deer and moose are just some of the many animals that inhabit these rich and diverse lands.
Recreation:
The Camp Loop Trail, a three-mile loop for hiking, begins in the facility.
Anglers can cast a line for rainbow and brook trout in the creek, and children enjoy wading in its waters.
There is an overlook nearby with a sweeping view of the surrounding scenery, and visitors can also drive along the scenic Highway 130 for more views and wildlife watching.
Facilities:
This campground offers16 reservable sites. Campsites line the cool, cascading waters of Libby Creek. Walk-in sites are not more than 25 feet from parking.
The facility provides picnic tables, vault toilets, drinking water and campfire rings with grates. The nearest showers are in the town of Centennial, Wyoming, about 5 miles away.
Nearby Attractions:
Countless outdoor opportunities exist in the surrounding national forests and grasslands, including hiking, biking, camping, horseback and off-road vehicle riding, fishing, hunting, sightseeing and winter sports.
