Windy Mountain Loop

A 7.1 mile loop goes by top of Windy Mountain. The hike begins at Thain Creek Campground and heads north for 1,000 feet. The 2.3 mile climb along Briggs Creek is where you will get the quote. The tallest peak in the Highwood Mountains is known as Highwood Baldy. The left turn from Trail 454 to Windy Mountain Pass comes after cresting a small saddle. If you have time, you can take the scenic detour to the top of the pass, which will provide a great view of the mountain. From this location, you can take a road 2.5 mile down to the thain creek trailhead.
