About This Trail
The famous kettle pond is called Walden Pond and it is home to Henry David Thoreau. The 335 acres of protected open space in the Walden Pond State Reservation are open to the public and can be seen by visitors from far and wide. The Reservation is a popular swimming destination. In the spring and fall, people hike the trails that ring the pond and visit the replica of the one-room cabin. interpretive programs and guided walks are offered throughout the year. The parking fee is $8/$15 in-state and out-of-state. The fee is not charged with the DCR pass.
