About This Trail
There's a hiking trail from state park to top of Blood Mountain. The trail is not strenuous and not used a lot. At the southern most campsites in the park, the trail begins. You must first park at the park's visitor's center then walk to the Pioneer camping area. The trail becomes more narrow after you pass last campsites. It is very steep in a few areas. It is important to turn left at the Bare Hare trail junction. The trail is a little more moderate from here. Going over Slaughter Gap and on to the top of Blood Mountain is the middle section. It is possible to see Spectacular views from Blood Mountain and back at the state park.
