Tuffy's Trail

Tuffy's Trail Follows the Spokane River for just over 3 miles starting from Mission Avenue northeast to Waterworks Street near the Upriver Dam facility. The primary trail is an uninterrupted, paved sidewalk along Riverton Avenue. Apartment buildings line the opposite side of the street. About three blocks from the start a dirt trail splits off toward the river and continues for about a mile where it rejoins the paved path at the Greene Street bridge. There are at least two safe gravel ramps and one more established staircase connecting the dirt trail to the paved trail above. From the bridge, the remaining trail skirts the edge of Spokane Community College. It is unpaved coarse gravel and river rock. The end is at the corner of Felts Field and the Upriver Dam facility. Here you will find an informal kayak launch. There are numerous steep trails leading down to the riverbank along the entire trail. Tuffy's Trail is not considered the safest spot in Spokane, so use your judgment when visiting the area. It is probably not a safe place to be alone late at night, especially for females. If this trail was maintained better, if there was less garbage, and if there were more people using it, it would earn at least one more star.
