About This Trail

The Tomichi Route is the most difficult of the South Rim's inner-canyon routes. It's a less popular option due to the constant loose rock and full sun exposure. Each day there are 15 permits and only one per group. At the Tomichi overlook, the trail begins and ends at a post. A majority of the trail is straight. The trail is not marked but there is some trail left by previous hikers. Good traction is a necessity for this trail.
