Sunrise Mountain via Appalachian Trail

The hike begins on the A.T. Requote: parking off of Deckertown. The terrain is easy to roll on at times. It is possible to go through the forest with Mt laurel in the background. The trail goes a short way to sunrise. There is a picnic pavilion at the top of the summit to avoid the strong winds. The harsh climate on top makes the summit rare. The small trees are bent by the winds. It is not unusual to see rattlesnakes in the summer. You can see the wallkill valley and NJ Highlands. It is a great hike to do on snowshoes.
