About This Trail
The South Fork Trail runs from South Fork Campground to Islip Saddle. The trail starts at the south fork of Big Rock Creek. The first 400 vertical feet are mostly loose rocks on a trail. There are spots that are becoming overgrown and trees falling across the trail. For a majority of the hike, there are excellent views of Mt Islip and Mt Lewis. This is the place to be if you want to be alone. You won't bag a peak, but you won't see anyone else on the trail. You won't hear people outside of the first and last quarter mile. You will be by yourself.
