About This Trail

The Siltstone Trail runs through Jefferson County and goes all the way to the highest points. The trail can be hiked from one side or the other, and is easy to shuttle from one side to another. This is an out and back hike. It doesn't take much to get warmed up. There is a steep climb after strolling past Tom Wallace Lake. The hike is a ridge line hike once you've made the climb. There's still more climbing to be done. The trail goes downhill to cross 2 paved roads with steep climbs at each intersection. The trail keeps the thighs burning and the heart pumping. It is a great hike in the fall and in the winter, when the leaves are not off. According to this, deer and wild turkeys are often seen along the way.
