About This Trail

Imported description
Pleasant hike over varied terrain. Streams, waterfalls, nice views. Starting hike at Skyline Drive makes most of route downhill. Pick up orange blazed Schuber Trail at Camp Tamarack sign. Trail descends gently through old camp property (ruins to be removed by county someday). It crosses several streams, then descends more steeply into Camp Glen Gray (an old Boy Scout camp now owned by Bergen County). It follows a camp road, then turns back into the woods. Soon it reaches a rocky ridge with an excellent eastward view (NYC visible in distance) were it joins the yellow trail. Together they descend to Bear Swamp Rd where yellow splits left just before road. Turn right onto the road, then left into the woods about 100 yards later. Trail is now relatively flat and very pleasant as it enters Ramapo Valley Reservation, turns southeast and passes McMillan Reservoir. After brief paved section it then turns right off pavement and into woods. It soon passes waterfall on left and ruins on right then follows Ramapo River back to parking.
