About This Trail
The section has a rapid called Rock Slide. Rock Slide is more of a maze that requires guides to have a good understanding of the routes and the movements of the large rocks that have fallen from the limestone walls. The Santa Elena Canyon River trail is usually done in two days. The first day's float is an open terrain with the second day mostly canoeing through the canyon and ending at Terlinqua Creek. The Santa Elena canyon walls were carved and polished by the Rio Grande.
