About This Trail
The top section of the Sacandaga has a lot of routes to choose from. The most difficult water is the far river left, where you can practice left eddy turns. There are several large rocks to the right of the river that provide eddy lines and holes for boaters to use. The middle of the river has large, fast water with holes that can be maneuvered around. The river leads to the biggest hole and surf wave. The most skilled paddlers wait their turn to surf the top wave or to pop an ender in the hole below the wave. It is a great place to practice the combat rolls, even for the most skilled surfers.
