About This Trail

It's possible to explore the west rim of the Wilderness. You will see a full size model Russian tank army Deployed in the middle of the desert during your trip. It's thought that it's used by the U.S. Air Force. It is not used for bombing. Go up the Bruneau River to see some of the scenic overlooks. The Wilderness designation is accessible by high clearance vehicles and is required to see the scenic overlooks. The roads to the overlooks are not kept up. The road is open to people on horses and people on hikers, but is steep on the canyon side. The east side of the trail is a safer place to walk. There were several places on the east side that were almost cut off from the outside. The river is a favorite for white water rafting.
