About This Trail

Imported description
The Ptarmigan Trail goes through a number of environments including sagebrush meadow and lodgepole pine. There are a few open spaces that give a great view of the Gore Range. The resident herd of animals can be seen on the north ridge. The long hike leads to some of the most beautiful vistas in the state, including four 14,000 foot peaks. It is better to start hiking early to avoid storms and lightning. The wind can be very cold, so bring clothing layers. This area is used by hunters during hunting season. The lower part of the trail is used by snowshoers.
