About This Trail
The park is on the southwest side of Thunderbird. Don't forget to pay respects to the mountain troll as you cross the bridge. After crossing the bridge, you will find a trail. Go south to the Camino Estancias. The trail will go east towards the mountain face. The entrance to the base of the west facing Saddle is marked by double rock cairns. The trail is straight up to the right side of the chute. It is a steady grade immediately from the bottom to the top. The incline is manageable. It's better to get a walking stick on the way up. It is a short distance from the peak. It's thanks to the mountain that the early birds are rewarded with shade all the way up. After summiting, you are rewarded with a panoramic view of the eastern side of the canyon.
