About This Trail

The hike is moderate on the 500 service road. Peavy Arboretum is a university arboretum. The arboretum was dedicated in 1926 and operated as a camp for the Civilian Corps from 1933 to 1942. The CCC built roads, trails, and firebreaks while planting trees. The hike takes you through the old growth forests and the Arboretum to the top of the road. You can start your climb at the parking lot. Look for sign posts that say 500 at the lake. The road goes through the old and new growth forest. Take the 530 road to the top if you stay left near the top. Look for animals along the way. It was easy to walk down.
