About This Trail

The trail leading to the fire tower goes through a mature forest. The tower is from 1936. There are a lot of stunning vistas at Fire Tower Trail, it is one of the more popular trails in the park. The trail begins with a gravel road, intersects with a trail and ends with Mudlick Trail. The first intersection is with the hiking section. On Millers Ridge there is aSeasonal view of the area. It is the third intersection. The first stop at a four- intersection goes to Trail Shelter 3, the second stops at the top of the trail, and the third is at the top. The tower was built by the Civilian Creed at a point 1, 313 feet above sea level. It is open to the public, although it is closed for spotting fires in the countryside.
