About This Trail

This route leads to Mt. The most popular route to the top is from the Low Gap Trailhead, which is the shortest route. This hike is steep, and it is the shortest route to the summit. The Cosby Creek valley has a lot of elevation gain as you travel up it. When you reach the junction with the Appalachian Trail, take a left and see the views of Cosby Valley, Snake Den Ridge and Inadu Knob before taking the half mile spur trail to Mount Cammerer. The fire tower provides a panoramic view of the Pigeon River Gorge, Snowbird Mountain, Mount Sterling, and the Big Creek area.
