About This Trail

The trail explores Spanish Missions, the San Antonio River hike and the aqueduct. The old and new bridges will lead you to the San Antonio River. The old Spanish acequia irrigation ditch is at the hike-&-bike path. Go uphill to the site of the old Spanish aqueduct after passing over the foot bridge. Retrace path back to the River and then take H&B path to Mission Espada. Then return to Mission San Juan. If you hike past 5 P.M., you should park outside the compound. If you parked your car on the compound, it will be towed. It's not recommended for night walking. The site of the daily Volkmarch walk. The Rangers' desk at the museum/ park headquarters has a walk box with map and start cards.
