About This Trail
Users have reported that there are short term closings in this area. Be aware that the park's website may have something to do with it. It is said that the deep canyons, aspen groves, and great view are related. The Hike begins very difficult and increases in altitude within the first 1.5 miles. The best trail times are in the Spring, Summer and Fall. Expect to use snow shoes or a similar accessory after October 15th. The trail was the cause of the extreme snowfall in Nov-Mar. There are Aspen groves, bolders and deep canyon views on the Mad Creek Trail. The trail is flat if you are going to camping. Go to a small meadow by the creek or 2 miles from the old US Forest Service Cabin. It's wise to be careful when the trail is crowded during the summer.
