About This Trail

The best 10 miles of Mohican Park on one hike! Start at the parking place at Pleasant Hill Dam. Take the Lyons Falls Trail past the small and large Lyons Falls. Continue on the trail following signs to the cover bridge. Do not cross the cover bridge, but go to the right where the parking places are to the trail head for Hog Hollow Trail. Follow this trail up to the fire tower. There are great views from the top of the fire tower. From the fire tower follow the park road east for about 2 kilometers (1.25 miles). There is very little traffic on this road. This will take you to Gorge Overlook. It is worth the few extra steps to go to the two lookout points. Back on the park road, it is just a few more steps to the next trail on the left. Important: Take the very next trail to the left. The main fire road trail will go straight and then curve to the right, but our path goes to the left. This trail will take you down to the driveway where the cottages are and to the bridge to cross to the north side of Clear Fork Mohican River. This is where Hemlock Gorge Trail begins. There is now a new portion on this trail that leads along the waterside. The trail will take you to the driveway where the Primitive Campground is. Follow along this driveway up to the covered bridge. Do not cross this bridge, but cross the street to the trail head for Pleasant Hill Trail. This will take you back to the Pleasant Hill Dam.
