About This Trail
The 114 acres of the reserve are divided by Mill Pond, where there are abundant ducks and geese. The forest habitat supports a lot of native species. The chicken of the woods and other mushrooms are common. The five ravines are thought to have been formed by a geological feature called headwall erosion. These deep v-shaped features occur when underground streams erode the banks and then collapse into the pond. It is a serious risk to mark an area called Quicksand as it is very fine, wet and deep sand.
