Joe Palooka Mountain

Joe Palooka Mountain/ Pinchot State Forest. Follow forest road stay to left, the 2nd rail to the right will be your return. Follow trail. Up then down for about 3/4 of a mile. Look to left for diagonal slabs of rock, leave trail short bushwhack to them follow the top of rock slabs with views of Wilkes Barre. To your right you will see a much larger and taller set of slabs of bedrock. Snake your way to them by following the lower ridge and then a slight bushwhack and go up the steep slabs for even better views. Follow this ridge in the opposite direction as tho heading back to the trail. Descend from the back of rocks the trail is right there. I mistakenly went right briefly. It is a left once you descend from them follow obvious trail heading in a general upwards direction. The trail becomes left defined and then practically nonexistent. Continue up to ridge bushwhacking heading towards the left and upwards, thus section has slightly thicker brush but it’s brief the ridge will be come apparent with more exposed rock slabs continue to follow them towards right. Much higher and wider city views from here. Again descending from back of rocks the return trail right there. Head right and follow down mountain where it reconnects towards the beginning
