About This Trail
The Jeffrey Hell Trail goes through Jeffrey Hell and then descends into the South Fork Citico Creek. Jeffrey Hell is named after the dense growth of mountain laurel that makes it difficult to hike off trail. Jeffrey is said to have gone looking for his hunting dogs in the area. The first part of the trail is fairly easy to hike. The last half mile of the trail leads to the South Fork Citico Creek Trail. If you want to get to the middle portion of the South Fork Citico Creek Trail quickly, you can camp along the Jeffrey Hell Trail.
