About This Trail

The rail to trail is in the Highlands. The crushed limestone trail has a variety of sites along it's length. The acid mine drainage ponds are north of Indian Head. The ponds are used to settle the polutants from the mines. The trail seems to end at Indian Head, but there is another mile to the south. The rail throughway extends further south to the Youghiogheny River and there is hope to extend it to join the Yough River Traill. Hikers and mountain bikers can continue riding through the area, but it gets overgrown and there are no bridges.
