About This Trail

The Hoodlebug was the nickname for the self-propelled passenger coach that ran on the line until 1940. The trail has a variety of surfaces, mostly rough asphault but some dirt and gravel. There are places with minor grades that follow the road. PennDOT is extending the trail to the south. The West Penn Trail will eventually connect it to the construction. It will connect to the Blacklick Creek Trail and the Ghost Town Trail. The trail complex will comprise over 60 miles of rail-to-trail.
