About This Trail

A long trail with a lot of animals on it. It's great to have a good view of the Upper Boyer Chute and Missouri. The grass loop trail is made of both grass prairie and forest. It's not a good idea to be close to the river at times. There is a chute along this trail. If you become fatigued, the trail has a shortcut that will cut the distance in half. The cut is at about 27.900 W 95. At this time there is also a trail to the Missouri River. The last part of the trail has no shade. It's important to bring lots of water, insect protection, and a sun block. The loop covers the entire island, but only part of it. The trail along the chute is an ecology lesson that can be learned after a flood. Backwater areas that were trashed are now grass and pretty. It was a good hike to close to Omaha.
