Government Island Trail

Government Island is a park preserve and archaeological site that has a trail and interpretive signs. The first portion of the trail is paved, the second portion is a wooden boardwalk and the third portion is a hiking trail around the island. The trail is 1.5 miles long from the parking lot to the island and back. The first two portions of the trail leading up to the edge of the island are accessible to people with disabilities. The footpath on the island is covered with mulch. Government Island is an ideal location to observe aquatic and native plants, as well as birds and other wildlife.
