Gorge Creek

Mountains, Glaciers, Bears, Elk, Dall Sheep. The hike begins with a steep descent down to the braided Gorge Creek. The bed is rocky and tricky to walk on, watch your step among the rocks. Head upstream for half of a mile, looking for a crossing. If you find one early, cross and keep going upstream. At a half mile, head up the hills on the opposite side of the creek from the visitor's center. There is little to no trail visible, so you will have to bushwack your way out of the creek bed most likely. The walk becomes easier, as the hills clear out near the top of them, and you can see over the hills, into Sunrise Creek valley. The hike back is the opposite of the hike in.
