About This Trail
There are short trails at the foot of palisades. The walk combines educational displays about geological periods, the discovery of fossils in a field of boulders, and a short climb to the base of the palisades. The Arch Trail is a rough trail that goes to the base of the Palisades. Two logs form a T above the trail. There is a stone arch at the end of the trail. The trail climbs through a boulder field. It is the best way to see the fossils in the monument. Look for the fossils on the fallen rocks. This trail starts at the picnic area and leads up to the rocky spires of the Palisade. The trail leads to the Trail of Fossils.
