About This Trail
The trail goes by way of the rugged canyon of the San Joaquin River and around a host of jagged summits in the northern wilderness. The wilderness permit is required for overnight backpackers. There are permits for the national forest. There are no fires allowed in King Canyon National Park. The ferry will take you to the site and make a number of trips per day. You can call for additional service on the eastern shore with a radio. If you use the ferry and take the trail, you will add another 4 miles to your trip. The late-season drop in the level of the water may affect ferry service. The ranch does not encourage visits from non-guests.
