About This Trail
A great way to do Dog Mountain. The trail is in great shape. Dog Mountain is north of the Columbia River in Washington and is home to the most spectacular wildflower meadow. The hills are alive with yellow balsamrot, red paintbrush and blue lupine in May and June. The views of the Columbia Gorge are breathtaking. The steep climb is popular, but you can choose your route. Each hiker needs a permit on Saturdays and Sundays in March and July. Permits can be purchased online, but not at the trailhead. You can save the parking challenge by taking the shuttle from the Skamania County Fair on the weekends for $2.00. $5/vehicle/day at Dog Mountain.
