About This Trail
It is possible to see otter from the picnic area. Northwest River Park has it all. There are over 5 miles of hiking trails and 2 miles of biking trails. You can rent paddle boats and canoes to go boating on the inland lake and scenic Northwest river. There is more than one thing to do: camping, fishing and picnicking. The park shuttle trail and deer island trail are multi-use hiking and biking trails. The shuttle trail leads to the southern terminal where there are restrooms and picnic tables. There is a map of the trail system at the camp store. One of the shortest trails is the Otter Point Trail, which leads to a nice hike through a mixed pine/hardwood forest.
